Everything you need to go from installing the extension to publishing your first clip.
1. Install the extension
Get ClipRoots from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar. No account is required to install it or to start clipping privately.
2. Capture a text clip
Highlight any passage on a page, then click the ClipRoots icon that appears next to your selection. Add your own note if you want context for later, and save.
3. Capture a video clip
On a supported video platform, open the ClipRoots panel while the video is playing. Mark an in point and an out point, and ClipRoots saves the timestamped range rather than a screenshot — the source link jumps straight back to that moment.
4. Publish or keep it private
Every clip gets its own page automatically. Choose whether to list it in the public feed, or keep it as a private note only you can see.
5. Comment on a clip
Comments require signing in. Enter your email on the clip's page and we'll send you a magic link — no password to remember, and clicking it signs you in on that device.

Every clip keeps a link back to where it came from — a video clip's link jumps to the exact timestamp on supported platforms, so context is never more than one click away.

Because ClipRoots saves the exact wording and your own notes, search works on meaning and phrasing — not just the tab or folder you happened to save something in.
