Web capture, kept honest

Capture what matters. Keep the source.

ClipRoots saves the exact passage, or the exact moment of a video, and wires it straight back to where you found it.

How it works

Three steps, in order, every time you clip something.

01

Capture

Highlight a passage, or mark the in/out points of a video moment as you watch.

02

Annotate

Add your own reading beside it, while the context is still fresh.

03

Retrieve

Pull it back up later — search finds it, and the source link still holds.

Features

What's onboard.

Aa

Text capture

Save the exact wording, not a paraphrase of what you meant to remember.

Video timestamping

Mark in/out points on any video and jump straight back to that moment.

Source lock

Every clip stays wired to the page it came from — no orphaned quotes.

Search

Find the idea later by what it said, not by which tab it was in.

ClipRoots

Works wherever you already read and watch.

YT

YouTube

Mark in/out points mid-video and clip the exact line that mattered.

UD

Udemy

Save a lecture moment beside your own notes, without losing your place.

VI

Vimeo

Same timestamped clipping, wherever the video is actually hosted.

WB

The open web

Any article, thread, or page — highlight text and it's saved with its source.

More platforms are on the way — see the guide for what's supported today.
